Ultradeck Trapezoidal

A structural panel for big roofs. Two and a half inch mechanically seamed trapezoidal rib that spans open purlins, so on a lot of commercial and ag buildings you never lay a deck at all.

Cross section of the Ultradeck trapezoidal panel: a 2.5 inch mechanically seamed rib spanning open purlins, with the anti-capillary leg detailed
How the panel works. The trapezoidal rib carries the load, so it spans purlin to purlin with no deck under it. The anti-capillary leg inside the seam is what stops water wicking back up on a low pitch. Drawing, not a job photo. Ask and we will bring a sample out.

What it is

Most standing seam is an architectural panel. It looks right and it sheds water, but it needs solid decking underneath to carry the load. Ultradeck is a structural panel. The trapezoidal rib is deep enough and stiff enough to carry itself between purlins, which means on a pole building, a warehouse or an ag structure you can skip the deck entirely.

The seam is mechanically field seamed rather than snapped together, so it closes tighter than a snap-lock and holds up better on long runs and low slopes. Inside the seam is an anti-capillary leg, a small return that stops water wicking back up under the panel by surface tension. On a low pitch roof that detail is the whole ballgame.

We roll it on our own equipment in Goshen, cut to the length of your building.

Aerial view of a large commercial building in Michiana with long uninterrupted metal roof planes
The kind of building this panel is built for. Long uninterrupted planes, very little cutting, almost no penetrations. Steel Master commercial install in Michiana.

When this is the right panel

Your building has purlins and no deck. Pole buildings, machine sheds, warehouses and most ag structures are framed this way. An architectural panel would mean sheeting the whole roof first. Ultradeck goes straight on the framing.

The roof is low slope. A mechanically seamed trapezoidal rib with an anti-capillary leg handles shallow pitches that a snap-lock panel has no business on.

The runs are long. Big simple planes are exactly where this panel is cheapest per square and fastest to install, because there is very little cutting and almost no penetration.

When it is not

A house. The rib is tall and industrial looking. On a residential roof you want Masterlok 100 or 150, which read cleaner from the street.

A cut up roof. Lots of valleys, hips and dormers means lots of custom trim, and the economics stop making sense.

A tight budget on a simple building. If you do not need the structural span, Masterrib at $4.50 a square foot installed will do the job for less.
